Carbon Fiber Recycling, LLC (CFR) has announced performance and validation data demonstrating that its recycled carbon fiber (rCF) Microfiber delivers spec-compliant plastic shrinkage crack control in concrete at low dosage rates.
Key test results show that a dosage of just 0.25 lb/yd³ achieves a 42.4% average reduction in plastic shrinkage crack width—surpassing the 40% threshold mandated under ICC-ES AC32—while a dosage of 0.75 lb/yd³ delivers a 75% average reduction. In addition to superior crack resistance, rCF Microfiber generates approximately 60–66 times lower embodied carbon per cubic yard compared to conventional polypropylene microfibers at equivalent dosages, providing contractors and ready-mix producers with a high-performance, cost-effective, and low-carbon reinforcement option.
